Dye Hair With Purple Shampoo

Dye Hair With Purple Shampoo

So, you’re interested in dying your hair? And you’re looking to dye your hair with purple shampoo? You’re not the only person to ask this question and you certainly won’t be the last. We want to explain to you though why it’s not really a viable solution, We’re also going to tell you a few better ways to colour your hair with specially pigmented shampoos that were actually designed to colour your hair and do a good job of it!

What Does Purple Shampoo Do?

A little while ago, We did write a blog post called “What does purple shampoo do?” so we’re not going to go into too much detail here but to briefly cover it without taking you off topic, Purple shampoo was designed to neutralize unwanted yellow tones in the hair. Purple is opposite yellow on the colour wheel, Making it the ideal colour to neutralize that specific tone in the hair.

Usually you will find people with freshly bleached hair using purple shampoo as a way to combat the yellowness that bleaching can cause.

Why it’s not a viable solution to dye your hair with purple shampoo.

  • Whilst some purple shampoos can be quite heavily pigmented and stain your hands, They may not contain enough pigmentation to actually colour the hair, Even if it does, It’s probably going to be patchy in places and be very uneven. Many people find that purple shampoo can cling to the ends of their hair more than the roots of the hair. That’s because the ends of the hair will be drier than the roots and more porous.
  • Limited colour options. Whilst purple shampoo can neutralize unwanted yellow tones in the hair, Its coloring effects are limited to this specific function. As we’ve said about, Whilst it may colour parts of your hair, particularly the ends of your hair. The colour that you do get, may not be a desirable one. It’s not going to be a colour that has any sort of depth do it and it may look quite dull.
  • As you wash your hair more without purple shampoo, You will notice that the pigment starts to run very quickly and it’s eventually gone. It should leave you with a nice blonde / silver hair after however, we’re assuming that if you want dye your hair with purple shampoo, then you’re not going to want it to wash out that easy.

Shampoo That Dyes Hair

These are a few alternatives that we would recommend instead. You’ll find that with most of these shampoos your hair will need to be pre-bleached for the colour to grab however there is a whole range of colours for you to choose from, you’re not just limiting yourself to purple.

Firstly, we’d highly recommend the range of Celeb Luxury Viral Colourwash Shampoos. These shampoos are very heavily pigmented, applied to pre-bleached / pre-coloured hair, these shampoos will really grab and colour the hair, as well as refresh the colour if you’ve already got coloured hair.

Many of our clients have used Celeb Luxury over the years we’ve been selling it and have been incredibly impressed with the results. It’s also a vegan friendly hair product!

We’d also recommend brands like Crazy Colour, They have a range of heavily pigmented shampoos that will also colour pre-lightened / pre-coloured hair. If you’re looking for something a little less expensive, then Crazy Colour is the brand we would choose, however, You won’t get the same desired results as you will with a brand such as Celeb Luxury. And whilst Celeb Luxury may seem a little more on the pricier side, I can honestly tell you, It’s not! A little goes a real long way with Celeb Luxury, You’ll find that one bottle will last you quite a while in comparison to other brands.

Another brand we’d recommend for shampoo to colour your hair would be Biolage, They have a range of hair shampoo to colour hair. Biolage is a professional brand that have been around for an incredibly long time, And their products have always lived up to their name.

Then, There is a brand that surely everybody has heard of, Schwarzkopf. This brand has been around forever! They’re an innovator in their industry and their range of Chroma ID Colour Masks has been gaining popularity since the release. It’s not an incredibly huge range yet but they’re always releasing something new!

Then last of all, We’d like to remind you of one of our biggest selling brands, Particularly for the Colour Refresh! We’ve seen people pre-bleach their hair and achieve amazing results with the Maria Nila Colour Refresh range of products! This is probably the second largest range currently on the market, Only in opposition to Celeb Luxury. The range is fantastic with a fantastic choice of colours.
Like the Schwarzkopf range, They’re not actually shampoos but hair masks. Still with a super easy application though, they smell great, work great and they’re vegan friendly! What more could you ask for in a hair product!
